SMARTLAGOON and WATCHPlant are delighted to announce that the II Environmental Intelligence Summer School<\/strong>, held from June 19th to 21st, 2024, at the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia (UPV), was a tremendous success. The event, dedicated to the digitalization of natural environments, brought together more than 45 enthusiastic students from diverse backgrounds, all eager to explore the latest advancements in environmental intelligence.<\/p>\n

The event kicked off with an inspiring opening ceremony attended by key figures from both the SMARTLAGOON and WATCHPlant projects. Laura Garc\u00eda Carmona, Bel\u00e9n Pic\u00f3 Sirvent, Alfredo Quijano, Javier Senent Aparicio, and Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Cecilia Canales shared their visions and underscored the importance of collaboration in advancing environmental intelligence. The summer school featured a series of insightful sessions led by renowned experts in the field. Darina Botsova and Francesco Matteuci from the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency highlighted the scope and significance of environmental intelligence, setting the tone for the rest of the event.<\/p>\n

Participants were introduced to groundbreaking projects such as WATCHPLANT, SMARTLAGOON, I-Seed, RAMONES, and ReSET. Each presentation showcased innovative approaches and cutting-edge technologies aimed at enhancing our understanding and management of natural environments. The hands-on workshops were a major highlight, providing students with practical experience in using tools like the SWAT model and low-cost sensing technologies. Sessions on parcel monitoring and watershed models allowed participants to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, fostering a deeper understanding of environmental intelligence applications.<\/p>\n

Students worked in groups to develop SWAT+ application examples for assigned study basins. This collaborative effort culminated in presentations where each group shared their findings and insights, demonstrating the practical utility of the skills and knowledge gained during the summer school. The event also provided ample opportunities for networking and collaboration. Students, researchers, and professionals from various institutions connected, exchanged ideas, and discussed potential future projects. This interaction is expected to foster continued collaboration and innovation in the field of environmental intelligence.<\/p>\n
